EVERY GENERATION
HAS A RIGHT TO A RITE OF PASSAGE (July 23, 2003)
(Even The Illegitimate Mugabe Regime, The
Matshonisa, Should Know That)
Every generation has a right to a rite of passage,
and every generation has a duty to fulfill such rite of passage
–– in a universal ethos torch-passing rite of enlightment.
But for our generation of African youth ––
burdened with the pernicious legacy of Matshonisa The Incubus ––
this time-honored transitional tradition presents some uncomfortable
rite of passage home-truths: are we to accept a shameful bloody
litany of war crimes and a civil strife culture –– from
the Matshonisa’s 1980s Gukurahundi atrocities to the 2002
brazen electoral fraud and its associated militia reign of terror
that knows no bounds –– as good and proper rite of passage
ethos torches? Or realistically and prudently, should we consign
such She-Devil’s bequest of wrath pathos to the dustbin of
history.
Should we take leave of our senses by throwing caution
to the wind, by embracing Matshonisa the incubus and his caravan
of SADC /NEPAD cronies/apologist, and thereby fail to learn the
lessons of history –– even though those who ignore history
are bound to be condemned by it?
But, perhaps, we must Remember, remember that the
court of public opinion is still open; open and still in session
–– waiting, watching and waiting for our debate about
a way out of this a torched tortured MATSHONISA rite of passage
burden…
But don’t tell the MATSHONISA, the Mugabe regime…
- for MATSHONISA knows not the spirit of tolerance nor this age
of democratic enlightment, for he lives not in these our times but
lives in the past (past all reason) –– there where,
in his mind, the CHIMURENGA still rages on…
